Employee Feature: Bianca
EMPLOYEE FEATURE: BIANCA
Bianca, one of our front-of-house MODs, is one of the most fun, community-driven, and hardworking people you will meet. She has a contagious laugh and an incredible work ethic.
Also known as Bonk, Bianca has been working at Aslan for nearly three years. She began in September 2022, starting off—as most people do—by running food and hosting. While these positions are essential to the function of both Bellingham locations, Bianca wanted more. She quickly moved into serving and bartending, and began taking on extra responsibilities like cleaning beer lines, helping with the merchandise department, and, more recently, assisting with managerial tasks.
Bianca's favorite menu item changes day to day, depending on what specials we’re running and what she's in the mood for. However, her all-time favorite seasonal special is the Kale Chorizo soup—she’s a self-proclaimed, “soup girly.” While choosing a favorite food was tough, she was ready for the beer question: Tateyama, our Japanese-style rice lager, and the Dunkel, our dark lager, are her two favorites brewed by Aslan.
Bianca enjoys working at Aslan because she gets to show up every day and work alongside some of her best friends. “It is always light-hearted and silly,” she says. Another major perk of working here is the connection to the community, she finds great value in building a network with others in the service industry and local Bellingham residents. This sense of community is one of the biggest parallels she sees between the service industry and firefighting, which is her dream job and next career step. She’s also realized how important it is for her to have a job with a physical component and to be on her feet.
Outside of work, Bianca loves staying active. She fills her days with running alongside her dog Shadow, mountain biking, skiing, and cooking big meals with friends. Her favorite dish to make is Shakshuka, a North African dish made primarily of eggs poached in a spicy tomato sauce, eaten straight from the pan with bread. It’s her favorite because it’s fun to gather around one dish and share a meal—and, of course, it’s delicious!
Bianca is looking forward to the sunny Bellingham days ahead. She’s excited for longer evenings, beautiful sunsets, and good beer with great friends.
Aslan is so lucky to have such a hardworking, fun-loving, and knowledgeable employee. We’re excited to see how Bianca continues to grow in her new MOD role—and in life in general!
