EMPLOYEE FEATURE: DANIELLE

Every great team is made up of its own individuals who bring their own unique stories, skills, and passion into their work. Danielle is a perfect example of that here at Aslan!

Danielle joined Aslan two and a half years ago as a packaging technician and has worked her way up in the brewery, recently earning a promotion to Brewer! She is one of the few Brewers at Aslan who didn’t pursue formal studies in Chemistry. Instead, her dedication to learning the craft and passion for the industry have brought her to where she is today.

“I have always had an interest from a science standpoint. I started off with baking and then learned that alcohol has similar aspects in chemistry, where you can play around with certain temperatures and certain proteins to create different smells and tastes. It was just really cool to me that so much can be cultivated with a relatively simple process,” said Danielle.

One of Danielle’s favorite aspects of working at Aslan is the social environment. She appreciates that everyone is welcoming without it being overwhelming—you can step back from social gatherings without feeling ostracized. “There aren’t a lot of places where you love the people you work with, love what you do, and are treated well by the business,” she says.

Danielle was born and raised in Bellingham but spent about ten years living in other places before returning home. During that time, she studied opera, composition, and performance, immersing herself in the music and performance industry.

When asked if she misses her time in that field, Danielle shared: “That’s the hard thing—I do. I really miss the singing and performing. But at the same time, I think I would miss beer just as much. When you find multiple things you love, it’s hard to pick between them. After COVID, the performance scene took a bit of a downturn, so I jumped into the brewery world—hopefully with the upswing of everything!”

Danielle stays motivated by a strong sense of responsibility. Entering her 30s has given her a new perspective and drive, making this stage of life a powerful source of motivation.

To unwind, she loves spending time with her two dogs, Kuda and Tula, and her fiancé, Adam. Danielle also has a wide range of fun hobbies, including singing, dancing, snowboarding, biking, sewing, and crafting in general!

“I am looking forward to getting married and having kids, but also sticking with this brewery career. If I could have a  family, brew, and sing at the same time, it would be a very, very full life. Arts, science and love. Amazing.”

We are so grateful to have Danielle on our team!
