MARCH NONPROFIT HIGHLIGHT: OPPORTUNITY COUNCIL

For 60 years, Opportunity Council has been a pillar of community support throughout Northwest Washington, working to build communities up through service, investment, and collaboration. As part of a national network of Community Action Agencies, their mission is clear: "Help people improve their lives through education, support, and direct assistance while advocating for just and equitable communities. Building a community where everyone has the chance to thrive and contribute."

Life can present unexpected challenges, and that’s where the Opportunity Council steps in. They provide practical assistance to those facing hardship, helping to keep a roof over people's heads and food on their tables while they regain stability. Whether it’s access to housing, food security, or financial assistance, they are there to support individuals and families through difficult times.

To accomplish this, they aid in many different areas, such as early childhood development and education, a stable workforce and economy, and housing infrastructure—all while maintaining environmental stewardship. By reducing the carbon footprint and promoting sustainable practices, they work to protect our community’s future.
